The plot was really great. It is about this young boy who lives in a orphanage in the mid 1800s. The boy, whose name is Ren is missing one of his hands and has no idea who his parents are. Then one day when he is 12 a man comes in and claims him as his brother, he tells Father John this story that seems fairly reasonable about how he lost his hand, then Benjamin (the "brother") and Ren go on a grand adventure that includes Ressurection Men, thieves, and scams. Isn't that a good plot! The description in this book was great, the boy Ren describes things wonderfully, like when he was describing when he saw Brom and Ichy's mother. Another good moment for description is when Ren is high on opium. The characters in the book were just awesome. They were all just so different. I loved reading the background stories on all the characters, exspecially Tom. The character Benjamin was interesting too, but until the end they kept him quite mysterious. The book was well develped they went through with everything real well. I gave how fast paced it was a 4/5 partly because it was a adult book, adult book usually don't go nearly as fast as teen books, this one lets say wasn't to fast, but it was just a little slow at parts, but most of the time it wasn't. The cover of the book is really pretty in my opinion exspecilly the drawing in the middle. When I was reading the book, I often found myself closing the book and looking at the cover. So in all this book was really good, if you like books that are Dickensian read this.

  1. I though this one was alot like Oliver Twist. In a way it is an Americanized version of Dickens' story. Now that you've read Oliver Twist, what do you think? Which did you like better?
